Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic condition that significantly affects quality of life. Despite its prevalence, FM's pathophysiology remains poorly understood, and treatments often fail to provide sufficient relief. Alterations in the endocannabinoid system have been hypothesized in fibromyalgia patients, but evidence regarding the use of medical cannabis (MC) in this condition remains limited and often inconclusive. Currently, there is no available knowledge regarding potential characteristics that might predict the response to this therapy. However, it is known that
among phytocannabinoid-based compounds, those containing equal concentrations of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are better tolerated, as CBD mitigates the psychoactive effects of THC without reducing efficacy.
